Co-Mediation
Most mediations are conducted by a single mediator. Occasionally, however, a matter is so complex or laden with emotion that the parties would benefit from the involvement of two mediators. In such cases, co-mediation offers a number of advantages, including:
- Balance and variety in mediator styles, techniques, personalities and tone.
- Diversity of gender and background.
- A broader range of mediator experience.
- A second set of eyes and ears in the active listening process.
- Mutual mediator support in a challenging environment.
- The synergy of an additional creative mind in collaborative problem solving.
When co-mediation is appropriate, Judith Rubenstein and Lol Sorensen can serve as a team of highly skilled, gender-balanced mediators who have worked effectively together for years in successfully resolving the most difficult and challenging of cases.
